Embodying the spirit of California’s green efforts over the past decade, this 4-unit condo project in West Hollywood features recycled content materials, a mesh screen shading system and natural cross-ventilation throughout. Two ground level units, clad in elegant light gray stone, form a delicate base for the townhome units above. Composite-wood paneled and wrapped in a light mesh skin, these upper levels angle back and away from the 4+story apartment building to the south, allowing daylight and fresh air to penetrate the narrow main entry. This canted action mirrors to the town-home unit in the rear, creating an opening in the center for a courtyard. Along with operable transoms above interior doors, most windows are designed to open and let air flow throughout the rooms of each unit. First floor units enjoy landscaped patio spaces with canopy trees and large sliding doors that open the indoors out to the surrounding nature. A lightwell penetrates the stair in the elevator lobby that leads tenants and guests to the second-floor units. Stairs to each roof terrace are in the center along the courtyard to allow even more light and air into the center of the building.
