Designed for a young family, the luminous and ethereal quality of Smidi House was born of our designer’s belief that simplicity of the design creates everlasting architecture. The extension’s floating skin is comprised of wood slats that wrap around to create privacy without seclusion and helps maintain the illusion of permeance. The stairs are anchored in the middle of the house and feature a skylight as residents are directed by the light to the reading room and large patio.
